How many times has this happened to you? You're in deep space, or on a new planet. And your stupid radio quits working. So you can't contact earth and tell 'em the good news, or the bad news. And so you try and fix it and now it only picks up incoming radio messages. And those are only some old radio programs from the 20's. Next space trip you'll use the good equipment and not let them contract out to the lowest bidder for radio communications.
